Vilde – I recall you and I spat over the guardrails (2024)

Good morning (or whatever on your side of the web). Friday is traditionally a day of fresh music, right? So, I am also here to give you a portion of beautiful music 🙂 Today here is the track “I recall you and I spat over the guardrails”, by the Australian indie / folk artist Vilde. If you want to check out more of his works, see the links below the post. And let’s dive into it!

Of course, I will say that his voice is just amazing. Every time I listen to his music, it sounds unbelievably soothing to my ears. Even though the song is sad and, obviously, it’s about a death of feelings. It still holds some kind of light hope for the future (at least for me). I dig the line “I recall you and I spat over the guardrails” in the lyrics. It sounds very close to my own feelings about the past. Sure thing, everyone will find (or will not find) himself in those words in his own way. In any case, the song is lyrically beautiful.

The arrangement and overall production of the track are also solid and perfectly balanced. The song builds up so smoothly and softly that I literally can’t catch that moment when layers of melodies lay one by one and finally, the whole pack begins to play. What can I say…wonderful work.

I hope this stuff will make your day at least a bit better and calmer. Enjoy the music and stand with Ukraine! Peace <3

LYRICS

Held you in fragile esteem
You, ebbing, an open palm
I recall you once cast a gleam
Love had but cleft in the calm

Following anything, sparking attention
Glimmering, snickering out to the west
I recall you and I spat over the guardrails
Bittering, shattering, thrown up as jest

You’d listen, I’d trail off
Consoled, but already lost
