Tony Edwards – Push The Desert (2023)

Hello, guys! Embark on a sonic odyssey with Tony Edwards, a visionary electronic music composer and instrumentalist hailing from the atmospheric landscapes of Oklahoma, US. The vessel for this auditory journey is none other than the enigmatic track titled “Push The Desert,” extracted from the hauntingly captivating album “XI, 12.” Edwards’ sonic craftsmanship navigates the realms of dark ambient, drone, and dark jazz, creating a composition that resonates with both darkness and softness simultaneously.

“Push The Desert” unfolds as an intricate fabric of sound, immersing the listener in a delicate balance of foreboding atmospheres and comforting undertones. Edwards draws inspiration from The Bhagavad Gita, weaving a narrative that reflects on the consequences of humanity’s technological pursuits. The album’s title, “XI, 12,” points to the chapter and verse of The Bhagavad Gita that Dr. Robert Oppenheimer quoted when witnessing the world-altering Trinity nuclear test in 1945.

As “Push The Desert” envelops the listener, echoes of dark jazz resonate, conjuring parallels with ambient maestro Lustmord and the mesmerizing Bohren & Der Club Of Gore from Germany. The track’s unique fusion of drone soundscape and jazz undertones creates an immersive experience, reminiscent of a dreamscape that intertwines with the listener’s consciousness.

A bit more info about the release from the artist:
In considering the inspiration behind this work, I read much of The Bhagavad Gita as Dr. Robert Oppenheimer quoted it multiple times when referring to his work on the Trinity nuclear test. It is hard not to imagine that we are on some sort of alternate timeline considering the events of the last few years and the new threats of war and global destruction. XI, 12 is a dark jazz work named after the the chapter and verse of the Bhagavad Gita that Dr. Oppenheimer was said to have been reminded of when watching the world’s first nuclear test just prior to dawn in the New Mexico desert on July 16th, 1945. 05:29:45 is the exact time that our world changed forever and marked our diversion into the technologically-accelerated decline of our environment and our humanity.

I hope you caught the dark vibe of this wonderful stuff. Enjoy the music and stand with Ukraine! Peace <3
