Ryan Pollie Quartet – Conception (2023)

Good morning, guys. Hope you all doing well. The first day of winter is here! Congrats on that ๐Ÿ™‚ As usual, I am here to share some fresh music with you. So, get ready to unforgettable listening experience ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here is Ryan Pollie Quartet โ€” experimental / jazz project from Pennsylvania, United States, and the track “Conception”. Let’s check it out!

I’ll be honest with you, until this day I didn’t thought that I may like music like this. But probably my love to experimental music is growing ๐Ÿ™‚ So, this composition really touched my soul. This track is spinning on repeat time and time again for probably two hours, and I am still listening and enjoiyng it. It’s like a musical story to me. I can imagine the whole plot line with this music.

The track balancing somewhere on the edge between musical composition and improvisation or free playing before the rehearsal. I dig it, because I hear something similar (but much heavier) when I precticing with my band.

It’s pretty hard to describe my feelings about this music. Because you just should listen to it by yourself. It will provoke your brain to draw some pictures for sure. In general, I think that this kind of music has only two ways โ€” you can like it very much, or you can hate it. I obviously belong to the first.

A bit more information about the project:
Experimental Artist Ryan Pollie has been busy exploring the soundscapes of our past. After a careerโ€™s worth of earthy folk rock albums, his last releases have been works on cassette loops [The Fridge], or large intuitive performance [with Academy of Light]. New Project โ€œ Ryan Pollie Quartet โ€ aims to photograph the city streets of a bygone era. Beat Poetry and Be-Bop jazz – the album consists of early 60โ€™s recording techniques and sound paintings. RPQ is inspired by the โ€œfree jazzโ€ of Cecil Taylor, Keith Jarrett, Lowell Davidson, Paul Bley, Peter Brotzmann, Borah Bergman, Alexander von Schlippenbach, and Sun Ra. However just as present are the modernist avant garde composers Robert Ashley, Anthony Braxton, Morton Feldmen, Jerry Hunt, Aaron Copland, and John Cage. Combining synthesizer and tape loops with upright bass, piano and drums – the Ryan Pollie Quartet takes on a shape of its own.

Thanks for listening, guys! Have a wonderful day and stand with Ukraine! Peace <3
