Tristan Gregory Smith
Tristan Gregory Smith - indie electronic music artist from Bellingham, United States
Tristan Gregory Smith is a folk-informed bedroom pop artist based in Bellingham, WA. Last summer he packed up his guitar and moved to Chicago, driving two-thousand miles through prairies and badlands on a steady diet of Andy Shauf, Adrianne Lenker, and Townes Van Zandt. He came home with an album’s worth of stories — a self reckoning of splintered dreams and memories. In the following months, Tristan polished off the songs at his family’s ranch in rural Washington. The album will be released in June 2020, with the first single, “Broken Down,” out in February.
Tristan was raised on John Prine and Neil Young, with many a night spent around the campfire. As a teenager, he went through his garage rock phase early and came out the other side on Bon Iver’s doorstep. Now, he dreams of returning to the woods, with a reel to reel and a few new tunes to keep him warm.
A Seattle native, Tristan’s making the long trek back to Chicago this summer.
