Hi there! Excuse me for the huge delays between posts here. Anyway, I am always trying to keep this blog alive with some fresh music. This time I am happy to share with you the song called “Places, Everyone”, by Halou — trip-hop / dream pop band from San Francisco, United States. Let’s check it out!
The overall atmosphere of the track is pretty dark and depressive to me. I like this mood tbh. I can even hear some light shades of industrial / psychedelic electronic music in this composition. A wonderful vocal part, literally hooks my brain from the very first seconds, and pulls to that dark dimension. I like the way the melody sometimes jumps to a major degrees of the scale …it makes it even spicier. In general, I can say that this song is incredibly magnetic and hypnotic. Amazing work by the amazing and legendary band!
A bit more info about the release in the words of the band:
“Places, Everyone” is the newest single from Halou’s upcoming release, Coco.
The project began as a remix album built from songs on Halou’s recent The Butcher’s Bill EP. After hearing the first remix, vocalist Rebecca Coseboom realized the tracks felt like entirely new works rather than reinterpretations. She wrote fresh melodies and lyrics for each song, approaching the same core themes from different emotional perspectives.
“Places, Everyone” reimagines “No Moon” from The Butcher’s Bill and is told from the perspective of a self-aware narcissist who will use nearly any manipulative tactic to get what she wants. It is moody, dark, and cinematic with a late-night atmosphere that fits perfectly on nighttime playlists and twilight drives.
As usual, thank you very much forbeing here! Enjoy the music and stand with Ukraine! Peace <3
Lyrics:
Places everyone Before we lose the sun I just need to nail this final scene And I swear if you behave We all will celebrate And your future is made I guarantee Just do this for me Just do this for me I set you up for success And instead you’ve made a mess I suppose its for the best All you bring me is distress I was so close I could taste The lusciousness of happy days Now it’s all gone to waste This rich future is erased Just leave me here with my grief Pull this darkness over me Leave me here, let me be Leave me here, let me be Maybe I made this too easy I’ll show you how it can be Without the benefit of me Things would turn out How I want If you’d only Do what I want
