Hi guys! I’ll be honest, I have no idea what to say now. I just want to share one more wonderful song with you. Today here is Wake up in the cosmos — alternative / psychedelic rock band from Italy, and their song “Berenice”. Let’s check it out!
This composition is kinda mix of psychedelic rock, progressive rock, post-rock, and shoegaze to me. A lot of styles are mixed together in perfect proportion. Wonderful musical cocktail! The track is very atmospheric and light. I’d even say it’s alive and breathing.
The beautiful arrangement and vocal melody make me feel like I am literally in the cosmos. Even though the song is sad by design, the aftertaste of it is very sweet and life-affirming (at least for me).
The very beginning of the verse (when the vocal comes out) a bit reminds me of Porcupine Tree. Probably, because of that melody with rotary effects. Once again, the arrangement is really detailed and beautiful.

Wake up in the cosmos is a status quo, a sort of distorted locus amoenus in which one takes refuge. Once the helmet is on, we isolate ourselves from the outside world and wake up inside our cosmos. A cosmos that welcomes us, but which is not always perfect and happy. As much as we imagine, we desire, we cannot know what the journey may reserve for us within our minds. The project was born in 2018 from the mind of Francesco (voice and guitar), which involved Edoardo (drums), Alessandro (guitar), and Simone (bass), thus reaching a stable lineup.
