John Pierce O’Reilly – now, the sun (2021)

Hey guys! Some time ago I posted a very nice folk song by John Pierce O’Reilly called “iombhá”. As you may predict, today here is one more track by this musician — “now, the sun”. Let’s check it!

First of all, it’s incredibly different from what I heard in the previous one. If iombhá was a purely folk / acoustic song, then this track sounds way more electronic. It’s kinda downtempo music with lo-fi hip-hop taste (especially the drums and those little vocal samples with some chorus or rotary effect). In general, I like it a lot!

The vocal manner and the guitar part are hidden in the middle of the song. But they also sound more blurry and soft in comparison with the previous song. Honestly, this track is almost ambient. Also, as I said before, this slightly experimental and avant-garde style a bit reminds me of Jeff Buckley (I mean his album “Sketches For My Sweetheart”…there are also a few tracks with a slightly similar atmosphere but without electronic influences).

Really, the track is wonderful and calm. I don’t know how this one connected with the previous one, but I like them both. Hope you like it as well. Cheers!
