I have a habit to listen to a lot of difficult music. I mean, math metal, progressive metal, brutal death, etc. I am just fan of unusual time signatures, fast riffs, and all that stuff. But sometimes my brain saying to me: “Hey mate, you’re freaking maniac! Could you turn on something light for me pls?”. Today is one of those cases. I just wanted to relax a bit and, a pleasant coincidence, I’ve got this beautiful song!
Here is “Constant Smiles” — psychedelic rock / lo-fi rock music project from Massachusetts, United States, and their latest song entitled “You’re On Your Own”. The name and lyrics os the song are also fit my current mood perfectly btw.
Well, what we have here? A pretty simple mix of a few genres, such as folk rock / psychedelic rock / lo-fi rock and indie. At least, in my opinion, these tags are a good fit for the music. A bit blurry atmosphere makes it pretty easy to percept. Same thing with the chord progression and the melody itself. But on the other side, this simplicity is the main weapon of this song. It’s not simple in “primitive” meaning, but simple in its genius. It’s hooking me. It makes me want to listen to it one more time and sing along with the vocalist.
What can be better than the simple, but incredibly catchy song in this rainy day? Exactly, nothing. Have a wonderful day <3
