YAP – Autism is a shift (2020)

Hello everyone!
Today I am very excited! Why? Because today I am here to represent to you the track by a musician which was one of the most influential for me. At least, when I started to play the guitar, riffs from his songs was one of the first riffs I played 😉 Meet – Mr. Brian “Yap” Barry and his fresh composition “Autism is a shift”.

Usually, I am not talking about history, but this time I will, because it’s a very special artist for me. So, be patient, please 😉

I can remember the very first time when I heard One Minute Silence (his former band)! It was a mindblowing experience! Yes, it was a big opening for me. I was around 18 years old and only tried to make my first steps in music. Honestly, I still listen to the “Buy Now, Saved Later” album and I still can say – that’s kicks ass! Just FYI – One Minute Silencenu-metal / rap-metal band from the UK. If you didn’t hear them, then I strongly recommend to do it right now 😉

A bit later, Brian started the new project (much more hip-hop / electronic) called “Pink Punk”, which I also like a lot and also till listening from time to time (especially “Zoo Politics” album 2005).

Then, for some time his music disappeared from my radars… And a few days ago I stumbled upon his fresh solo track, under the artist name YAP this time. And now it’s here!

A few words about YAP from his Facebook page:
“Yap is an autistic savant. His unique way of seeing the world has led him down a metaphysical path. He has spent his entire life studying the human mind in a bid to systemize it and thus create a cognitive scale for humanity.”

Finally, we came to the song itself! Obviously, it’s much close to Pink Punk style. But also it has some shades of chill out and deep house music in my opinion. Try to imagine this track without vocals 😉 I will not talk about lyrics, you can check them (on youtube, in the description of the video) and you will understand everything by yourself.

A final thing that I’d like to say today – I am happy to hear new stuff from this musician. I understand that the time changing everything and his interests now is a bit different. But I hope he will not stop making music! Mr. YAP, thank you for your music, art, and philosophical work! Peace.
